nquery for gentoo-portage
an attempt to make equery better
background
equery was too slow for me with using all this bloated portage code
description
note that there are many things to do. for now nquery is only build together from some old sources. some commands are not available, bash-completion is only copied from equery, the code has to be cleaned up...
dependencies & installation
dependencies:
- perl
- eix - it is used for searching packages
installation:
assuming that your portage-overlay folder is /usr/local/portage/ do the following as root:
cd /usr/local/portage
mkdir app-portage
cd app-portage
svn co https://svn.keksbude.net/repos/keks-overlay/app-portage/nquery/
# for paludis-users
paludis --regenerate-installable-cache
paludis -pi nquery
# for portage-users
emerge -av nquery
downloads
download the gentoo ebuild, place it in "/usr/local/portage/app-portage/nquery/" (or wherever your $PORTDIR_OVERLAY is) and run 'ebuild /path/to/nquery-0.1.ebuild digest'
now, happy emerging
the ebuilds can also be downloaded from the keksbude gentoo overlay(subversion repository)
here,
browsed here, or you can use subversion directly.
do
svn co https://svn.keksbude.net/repos/keks-overlay/
to checkout our whole gentoo overlay, or something like:
svn co https://svn.keksbude.net/repos/keks-overlay/app-portage/nquery/
to just checkout nquery.
